Privacy Policy

ClearChat collects zero personal data. No browsing history, no conversation content, no identifiers. Everything stays on your device.
Data Collection
ClearChat does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data whatsoever. The extension has no analytics, no telemetry, no user accounts, and no tracking of any kind.
Specifically, ClearChat never accesses or records:
- Your browsing history or browsing activity
- Your ChatGPT conversation content or prompts
- Personal identifiers such as name, email, or IP address
- Cookies, authentication tokens, or session data
Local Storage
ClearChat stores a small amount of data locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to ClearChat or any third party. The stored data includes:
- Your enabled/disabled toggle preference
- Ad block statistics: a total count and daily counts for the past 30 days
You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension or clearing extension data in your browser settings.
Permissions
ClearChat requests the minimum permissions necessary to function:
storage— Save your preferences and ad block statistics locally on your deviceactiveTab— Detect and remove ads on the currently active ChatGPT tab- Host access limited to
chat.openai.comandchatgpt.com— The extension only runs on ChatGPT pages and cannot access any other websites
External Connections
ClearChat makes zero external network requests. There are no analytics services, no remote servers, no third-party SDKs, and no outbound connections of any kind. All ad detection and removal processing happens entirely on your device.
Updates
Ad detection pattern updates are delivered exclusively through extension updates published to the Chrome Web Store. ClearChat does not fetch patterns, configurations, or any other data from remote servers at runtime.

ClearChat is fully open source under the MIT license. The complete source code is available on GitHub for anyone to audit, review, or contribute to. What you see in the source code is exactly what runs in your browser.
